Questions to consider for the book club discussions
  1. What did you think about the beginning of the book? Did it immediately capture your attention or did it take a while?
  2. How did the book make you feel?
  3. What did you think about the characters?
  4. Which characters did you like or dislike?
  5. What motivates the characters’ actions? Do you think those actions are justified?
  6. Do any characters grow or change during the novel? If so, in what way?
  7. Which characters in the book would you like to meet? What would you ask, or say?
  8. If you could insert yourself as a character in the book, what role would you play?
  9. What do you think about the plot (storyline)?
  10. Consider the ending. Did you expect it or were you surprised? Was it a good ending? If not, what would have been a better ending?
  11. What are your most memorable moments from the book?
  12. Does the book remind you of an event, or a person that you know?
  13. What did you learn from this book?
  14. What is the message of this book?  Do you agree or disagree with it?
  15. If you had a conversation with the author, what would you ask him or her?
  16. Have you read the author’s other books? How was it similar or different to this one?
  17. Would you recommend this book to others?
